ASACP to Attend FOSI Conference in Washington

LOS ANGELES — The Association of Sites Advocating Child Protection will participate in the upcoming FOSI Conference and Exhibition, taking place Nov. 9-10 at the Andrew W. Mellon Auditorium in Washington, D.C.

Detailing and evaluating collaborative strategies for safe and healthy online use, the fifth annual Family Online Safety Institute conference and exhibition offers an opportunity for all stakeholders to discuss innovative methods of keeping children safe online.

The two-day event brings together a wide range of international policymakers, Internet industry leaders and safety advocates, educators, legislators, law enforcement and technologists.

Sponsors include AT&T, Google, Microsoft, Time Warner and Yahoo, among other high-profile companies.

ASACP’s Executive Director Tim Henning will be attending, as a means of strengthening the association’s bonds with other child protection entities, while sharing the latest information.

“Attending the FOSI event allows ASACP to build bridges between its interests with those of our counterparts,” Henning said. “It’s a great way to convey to mainstream and government interests the fact that the adult entertainment industry is not involved in underage materials.”

Some the event’s scheduled topics include New Approaches to Safe and Secure Technologies, Healthy Relationships and Neuroscience, Responsible Gaming, Networking and Safety in Virtual Worlds and New Approaches to Safe and Secure Technologies.

Various government departments such as the U.S. State Department and the FCC, Federal Trade Commission, the European Union, Disney and others will be making presentations.

“One item of interest to ASACP is the emphasis on apps at this FOSI event,” Henning added. “Staying abreast of the latest concerns and technologies in this arena allows ASACP to issue the most relevant and up-to-date ‘Best Practices’ for adult app marketers as possible.”

ASACP maintains Best Practices for adult web and mobile sites, social network usage and advertising, adult dating sites, search engines and directories, billing and hosting companies, plus TGPs/MGPs and user-generated content sites, including adult tube sites.
